Nathan and Gunseli held their gorgeous Cascades Manor House wedding on a breathtaking August afternoon in Jackson, Michigan. I love the Cascades Manor House wedding venue (website here) for so many reasons: the lovely architecture, the beautiful gardens, and ponds. But one huge reason is that my husband actually proposed to me on the footbridge in front of the manor house. Cascade Park was one of our go-to places to spend time together in college. We loved feeding the ducks and walking the grounds, so when Zachary gave me a promise ring 3 months into our relationship, he did it on the footbridge at the park. Three years later he proposed in the exact same spot.

But enough about me! Nathan and Gunseli chose to have their wedding ceremony in the gazebo in front of the manor house. It boasts gorgeous views of Cascades Pond as well as the gardens located around the manor. And it’s the perfect place for a summer wedding.
When I first arrived to the venue, Nathan was finishing getting ready with his guys and after chatting for a bit, I asked him how he was feeling. “Great!” he said, “Counting down the minutes until I get to see her!” queue the heart eyes! One thing that I thought was really cute about Nathan and Gunseli, is that they kept calling each other throughout their morning while they were both getting ready. It’s like they couldn’t stand to not hear each other’s voices before their first look.
As the time for their first look approached, you could sense a nervous energy coming over both of them. They were both so excited to see each other and get started with their big day, their Cascades Manor House Wedding. The moment that Gunseli tapped Nathan on the shoulder and he turned around to catch a glimpse of his bride, all of their nerves just melted away. They immediately wrapped each other up in a hug and you could see both of them physically relax.

This is actually one of the big reasons that I love first looks! A first look is a great way to get rid of those nerves before your wedding day ceremony. If you don’t like the idea of having that significant of a reaction in front of several hundred people, a first look may be exactly what you’re looking for! It gives you a chance to experience all of those emotions of seeing your spouse for the first time on your wedding day in an authentic way, without worrying about having all eyes on you for your reaction. If you don’t see your spouse until the ceremony, you get all worked up seeing them for the first time, but you’re in the middle of your ceremony, so you have to wait anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour to get to enjoy that time with them.
After their first look, Nathan and Gunseli’s wedding day just flew by. I don’t think I’ve ever worked with a couple who fit together as naturally as Nathan and Gunseli. These two fit together like the moon and the tides, they ebb and flow and simply fit. Their photographer and my second and I were all holding back tears, gushing over how absolutely perfect they are together. Congratulations again, Nathan and Gunseli! May you always be as happy and in love as you were on your wedding day!
