Jolie & Griffin: Grand Traverse Bay Engagement Session

Collage of Grand Traverse Bay engagement session photos.

I’ve been so excited about Jolie and Griffin’s wedding next August since we first chatted back in February about me being their photographer. They’re getting married at Jolie’s family’s home here in Traverse City, and if you didn’t know this I love, love, love backyard weddings! Maybe it’s just the sentimental side of me, but there’s something so special to me about couples choosing to get married someplace that means so much to them. So we decided to do a combination of a backyard and Grand Traverse Bay engagement session.

A Backyard and Grand Traverse Bay Engagement Session

Anyways, you can imagine how much more excited I got when I pulled up to the house for their engagement session last night and saw how absolutely gorgeous it is. They’re getting married on the little dock in the pond, and I seriously can’t imagine anything more perfect.

I’m so excited with all of the beautiful pictures we got during their session, the evening ended up being perfect even though we did have to hide in the garage for a bit to stay out of the rain. Once those few little sprinkles went away though, the rest of the evening was gorgeous. After we took some gorgeous pictures around their property, we headed over to the bay to finish off their session.

We didn’t really get a sunset because it was a cloudy day, but it was still gorgeous! I actually really love the blue space that you get over the lake when it’s a really cloudy evening. There’s just blue as far as your eyes can see, and it’s always so peaceful. When the sky is just blue and grey like that, I could sit on the shore for hours. You almost can’t tell where the line between water and sky meets. It’s magical!

Anyways, now that I’ve rambled on for a bit, enjoy some highlights from their gorgeous session! ❤️
